Meet Kristofer

Kristofer Sommerfeld took the first steps towards his dream when he founded Kristofer Sommerfeld Productions in March 2013. However, his passion for puppetry ignited long before that, at just five years old, when he first experienced the magic of puppetry and creative ministry. By 11, he was crafting his very first puppet as part of a puppet ministry, marking the start of his exciting journey in puppeteering.

At 12, Kristofer attended his first Fellowship of Christian Puppeteers conference, where he met Dale VonSeggen, the founder of One Way Street, INC. Dale became a mentor to Kristofer, guiding him with invaluable insights and teaching until his passing in 2019.

In 2006, another pivotal moment arrived when he crossed paths with Dave and June Privett. They served as key role models and helped Kristofer sharpen his puppet-making craft.

A highlight of 2012 was meeting Kevin Clash, the iconic puppeteer behind Elmo from Sesame Street. Impressed by Kristofer's talent, Clash invited him to the Jim Henson Company workshop in Long Island City, NY, and offered a behind-the-scenes tour of "Sesame Street" at Kauffman Astoria Studios.

June Privett recognized Kristofer's potential, leading to his election as Vice President of the Fellowship of Christian Puppeteers in 2012.

In 2015, he introduced Puppedcation™, his innovative approach to puppetry. By 2017, Kristofer was elected President of the Fellowship of Christian Puppeteers, a role he held for seven years before transitioning to an advisory position on the board.

In 2018, he acquired the company “PlaySoup” from Dave Privett, further expanding his reach in the puppetry world. Subsequently, in 2020, Trent and Jessica Black invited him to take over their business, the Creative Arts Store, which diversified his product line with gospel illusions, clowning resources, and a variety of new puppet characters.

In 2022, Kristofer obtained a majority of the assets from Creative Ministries Solutions, formerly One Way Street, INC. He continued to honor the legacies of Dale and Liz VonSeggen and KJ Schmidt by launching One Way Squared™ in 2023, reflecting his deep appreciation for those who shaped his journey.

Today, Kristofer Sommerfeld stands out as a respected puppeteer and builder in the creative arts ministry. His wealth of knowledge and experience continues to inspire at regional and national conferences, showcasing the lasting influence of those who believed in him.

With a vision to elevate his family's ministry, Evergreen Kids™, Kristofer aims to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families, spreading the transformative love of Jesus Christ.

When he's not immersed in his work, Kristofer loves traveling with his wife, Amanda, their daughter, and their two dogs. He's been likened to the likes of Walt Disney, Jim Henson, and Milton Hershey—and he embraces those comparisons!

Since 2025, Kristofer has also been honored to sit on the board of the Puppeteers of America, further solidifying his commitment to the art form he loves.
